Ep. 7 - Bethesda Hipster

That Odious Beast, Gaming  is a show about video games, the fans who play them, and the people who make them. This week, it's also about making friends who love a game you've never played, and feeling a moderate amount of pressure to try it out. In this episode: Logan starts in on Skyrim , just a few short years after its release in 2011; Jonathan struggles to find joy in the challenging and time consuming final levels of Wargroove; We spend entirely too much time fearing the old blood; Jonathan talks about some of the improvements (and backsteps) that  Apex Legends  brings to the Battle Royale genre, and Logan ruminates on his ineptitude for shooters; We discuss the many rounds of layoffs, including the particularly gruesome decisions made by Activision executives in recent weeks. Ep. 6 - Such Indie Death

That Odious Beast, Gaming  is a show about video games, the fans who play them, and the people who make them. This week, it's also about the most boring football game in recent memory. Let's hear it for the Cleveland Browns, though! In this episode: Jonathan plays Dishonored 2 the fun, stealthy way. Logan piles on the hate for Leon from Resident Evil 2 . We talk about two EA published, futuristic shooters- Respawn's Apex Legends and Bioware's Anthem - and what playing them is like. Jonathan sheds a bit of light on Wargroove , the spiritual  Advance Wars  successor from Chucklefish. Lastly, we cover some of the dark side behind the upcoming Activision-Blizzard layoffs. Ep. 5 - "Old Blood" Mountain Dew

That Odious Beast, Gaming is a show about video games, the fans who play them, and the people who make them. This week, it's also about food, I think. Doordash is definitely mentioned. In this episode: Jonathan gets 'the bad ending' in Dishonored 2. Logan reflects on the way Persona 5 subverts its own tropes. Bloodborne ravages Logan's spatial understanding. Metro: Exodus becomes an Epic Store exclusive and gets a price drop, angering some fans for... some reason... And we talk about what's on tap for the next couple days. Ep. 4 - Everything is a Verb

Here at That Odious Beast, Gaming, we're starting to get into the swing of weekly episodes, so put on some headphones, sit by the fire, and cozy up with a hot beverage while we discuss some good, some bad, and some ugly in vidya games this week. In this episode: Logan discovers the use for the circle button while playing Bloodborne; Jonathan muses on the ultimately disappointing plot resolution provided by Mad Max; Logan throws around love for Life is Strange like it's going out of style; Jonathan finally gets his PUBG patch, which includes canted sights, a loot cave, and Aurora Borealis; We take a close look at the labor practices behind Slime Rancher, using Patrick Klepek's article as a guide. Ep. 3 - Yoshi and the Back-yarn-igans

"That Odious Beast, Gaming" is back- this time with a brand new recording setup- and the scent of 2019 games is heavy in the air. So grab some headphones and take a walk with us as we discuss some of the games we're most excited for in 2019. In this episode: We take a stab at recording the show remotely; Jonathan swings into new zones in Avalanche's 2015 game, Mad Max ; Jonathan laments the map distribution in PUBG ; Logan expresses complex feelings about Super Meat Boy ; Logan revels in his role as "Staryu Master" in Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee Version ; We discuss development of gore in Resident Evil 2 ; We have a superficial talk about the convoluted nature of Kingdom Hearts ; We read some Google questions about Crackdown 3 ; We desperately reach to remember the title of Yoshi's Wooly World ; Kirby gets no love; And we take a ton of time sorting through every other confirmed 2019 title that interests us. Ep. 2 - Jonathan is the God of War

Welcome to 2019, everybody! At That Odious Beast, Gaming , we're back, and ready to roll into a new year of good vidya games. But first, let's take a moment to talk about what we liked- and maybe didn't like (lookin' at you, Battlefield V war stories)- from the year that just escaped silently into the night. In this episode: Jonathan talks about his time with Avalanche Studios' Mad Max , and Logan misses a pun he really wanted to make. Logan dives deep into Subnautica talk. We take a look at the verb-puzzle presented by Motion Twin's Dead Cells. Jonathan ruminates on the big yikes that is The Last Tiger. And then, we dive into a list of everything we played in 2018. Stay with us, because there are some good ones. (And, in Jonathan's case, several that weren't as good.) You can find us on Twitter at @loganmathew401 and @JonathanNielson

Ep. 1 - Pilot

In That Odious Beast, Gaming, Jonathan Nielson and Logan Johnson talk about what they're playing, what games they're looking forward to, and potential red flags they see in the industry. They bring an acceptable amount of wit, amiable natures, and a skeptical attitude toward 'Gamer Culture' as a whole. In this episode: Jonathan makes a big reveal about his true feelings for Shadow of the Colossus; Logan talks about accidentally getting into a relationship in Persona 5; Jonathan hypes about PUBG 's new map, Vikendi; Logan plays Smash Bros. after a long hiatus from the franchise; Logan makes some noise about Gris; Jonathan talks about his anticipation for Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden; Jonathan downloads the demo for She Dreams Elsewhere; ... That Sonic the Hedgehog poster comes up; and there's some discussion about Steam vs Epic vs Discord, etc. We'd like to thank Weird Heat for the use of their track, Nostalgia .
